UPDATE ON STATUS OF HULL SCHOOL

Following the open forum hosted by the Livonia School Board and School Administration held at Frost on Sept. 9, the School Board had a lengthy discussion on the Hull situation at their study session held Sept. 14.  No formal resolution has been proposed yet on Hull.  The following are some of the main points discussed at their study session.  The Administration will board up all of the windows at Hull and paint the plywood; they will also keep the area clean.  They will also see if the court yard at the school can be secured to keep persons from going back in that area.  They will also look at moving the ball diamond backstop fence.  The Administration does not want to rent Hull to another private school; they fear the competition will draw students away from the Livonia schools.  One board member stated he has a name of a group wanting to rent/buy the Hull property for a school.  The Administration has not identified any Livonia school function to house in Hull.  Regarding the Magnet School idea suggested at the open forum, one board member calculated that it would have to draw in 67 students from outside of Livonia to make it financially feasible.  No one had any ideas for a theme for the magnet school; there seems to be no interest in looking further at the magnet school idea.  It appears that the Administration and some of the Board members are leaning towards tearing Hull School down.
