Neighborhood Watch

Suspicious Walker - Very early Sunday mourning around 4:50 a.m. on Sept. 4, 2011, a suspicious male walker wearing all black clothing was observed walking down Park, entering the Perth Cul De Sac, and then continuing south down Park. If you see something like this, please call the non-emergency police number right away and let them check out the individual.  There have been thefts from vehicles in other parts of the city.

Package Stolen Off Porch - A UPS package left on the porch of a home located on the upper end of Yale was stolen on March 8, 2011 around 1 p.m. If you are expecting a delivery and will not be home, ask a neighbor to take it in for safe keeping.

Money Missing from Home - A resident living on Ronnie Lane returned from shopping and banking the week of Jan. 24, 2011 and left her purse containing a large sum of money in a bank envelope on the kitchen table while she went ouside to clean some snow off the sidewalk.  She later found the money envelope missing from the purse and suspects someone entered her home while she was outside.  Please make sure when you are out of your home that any unlocked entry or open garage door remains in your view.

Package Stolen Off Porch - A package that was delivered on Jan. 14, 2011 by FedEx and left on the porch of a home on Schoolcraft was stolen.  You may want to request that the sender of your packages request a signature when the item has value and is not easily replaced.

Items Stolen From Halloween Display - Four orange safety cones were stolen from a Halloween display at the corner of Ronnie & Lyndon on Sunday evening. Oct. 31, 2010.  They were valued at $42.

Vehicles Broken into on Grennada -  On Thur. night, Sept. 9, three locked vehicles were broken into and rummaged for valuables. One resident awoken by his dog looked out and saw someone in his vehicle and went outside and yelled at him; a black male ran away from the vehicle.  The police were called and responded within 2 minutes but could not locate the culprit. Fingerprints were lifted from the vehicles.

Raccoons Getting into Trash –  It has been reported that a family of raccoons living near the upper end of Park has been getting into the trash cans and causing a mess.  These critters are nocturnal, so the best solution would be to take the trash out of the garage and place it at the curb on Wednesday morning.  Otherwise please remember to place a tightly fitting lid on the cans.

Chewing Tobacco Issue –  Over the past year plastic bottles containing a small quantity of dark brown liquid have been spotted strewn along the streets in our area.  It is believed these bottles contain chewing tobacco spit and have been pitched out of cars by teens or young adults.  Hopefully your children have not tried this or started smoking cigarettes.

Barking Dogs –  If you own a dog that barks a lot, please do not leave it outside for any extended period of time so that it becomes an irritation to your neighbors.  For dogs with a loud bark, please keep your windows and doors closed to reduce the noise level heard outside.

Trash & Recycle Container Storage -  Please remove the bins and trash cans as soon as possible from the curb after pickup; do not leave them out there overnight on Wednesday.  Please do not leave them on your front porch either.  If you need to store them on the side of your home, then try to keep it neat and as hidden as possible.  Do not detract from the beauty of your home and the neighborhood.

Commercial Vehicles -  A reminder to all that there is a City ordinance that bans a commercial vehicle from being parked overnight in a residential area neither on city streets or on your property.

Vehicles Blocking Sidewalks -  Please do not park your cars in the driveway so that they block the sidewalk or allow your visitors to do this.  You are breaking a City ordinance.  We have many walkers in our area and this is a hardship on them, especially those pushing a baby stroller.  You are forcing them to go onto your lawn or out into the street to get around the illegally parked vehicle.
